Since Golmaal Again, box office is seeking for another Hindi film that can divert major audience toward itself. But like last several weeks, this one too has started on a lame note. Unfortunately, this dry spell doesn’t seem to end till Tiger Zinda Hai (22 Dec) as highly anticipated film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmavati has got postponed now due to numerous protests against it’s release.
Several Hindi films have been released at box office this Friday but among them only Julie 2 and Kadvi Hawa have some buzz, while rest other are unknown to audience. There are some English films as well that have been released across India, but they are not enough strong to create buzz like previous ones Thor Ragnarok and Justice League.
Directed by Deepak Shivdasani, Julie 2 is an erotic thriller starring popular south Indian actress Raai Laxmi in lead role. Being the sequel to 2004’s Julie, it had decent pre-release buzz but not getting any favorable response from critics as well as audience.
On the opening day, Julie 2 opened to a dull note and registered the business of 0.52 crore from approx. 1650 screens across India including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi languages. Although due to star power and support of south Indian audience, it seems to take decent jump over the weekend.
While on the other hand, Sanjay Mishra starrer Kadvi Hawa is not a commercial film, so has not witnessed any considerable opening but as expected got succeed to impress critics with it’s content power. On Friday, it raked the business of only 0.05 crore from limited screens nationwide.
