1st Day Collection of Mersal, Vijay’s Tamil Film Takes Phenomenal Opening Worldwide

Despite Diwali festival when most of the people spend their time with family at home, superstar Vijay starrer Tamil flick Mersal has registered phenomenal opening at box office across south India as well as overseas. Directed by Atlee, this action thriller reported higher occupancy in theaters than expected.

The thing which adds more taste to it’s success, that Mersal is getting positive reviews from critics as well as audience and as result gained strong word of mouth. The actor has given excellent performance as always, also the leading actresses Samantha Prabhu, Nithya Menon and Kajal Aggarwal are being praised by everyone.

On the opening day, Mersal opened to a terrific note and remained strong throughout. Most of the theaters in south India were housefull on Wednesday and witnessed great footfalls. From Tamil Nadu, the film raked the business of 22.50 crores while collected approximately 4.50 crores from Kerala.

From overseas market too, Vijay starrer is getting excellent response and grossed the business of 43.50 crores on the opening day at worldwide box office. Due to positive waves, Mersal is positively expected to remain strong throughout this festive long weekend.

Although the highly anticipated Hindi offerings Secret Superstar and Golmaal Again are also being released this weekend, which will definitely hamper it’s run in regions other than south India. But that won’t cause any major dent on it’s overall performance worldwide.
