The newly released offerings from Bollywood Simran, Lucknow Central and Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi have unfortunately opened on a lower note than earlier expectations. The first two have received below average response on the opening day, while the third one remained lost across the country.
Hansal Mehta’s directorial Simran is a drama movie, revolves around a Gujarati girl who works as a housekeeper in US and unknowingly gets involved in the world of crime. With the trailer, it made good impact on viewers but the movie itself getting failed to entertain most of the audience.
Leading actress Kangana Ranaut has given her best as always, but still Simran is receiving mixed reviews from critics as well as audience. On Friday, it opened on a dull note in morning and minted the amount of 2.77 crores from 1500 screens across the country with overall 15-20% of occupancy.
On the other hand, debutant Ranjit Tiwari’s directorial Lucknow Central is a prison escape drama which is inspired by a true incident. It’s a story of a ordinary music aspirant from Uttar Pradesh Kishen Mohan Girhotra, who gets framed in a high profile murder case and sentenced to life imprisonment in Lucknow Central Jail.
Along with Farhan Akhtar in lead, it stars Diana Penty, Gippy Grewal, Ronit Roy, Ravi Kissen, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajesh Sharma and Inaamulhaq in supporting roles. All the actors have given solid performances but still due to weak script, it is getting mixed reviews from critics.
On the opening day, Lucknow Central also started the journey on a dull and recorded overall 15-20% of occupancy on 1200 screens and raked the business of 2.04 crores. As a good sign, most of the audience is reacting in it’s favor, so it can take decent jump over this weekend.
While the least buzzed movie Rishi Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Vir Das and Payal Ghosh starrer romantic comedy Patel Ki Punjabi Shaadi has struggled a lot on the opening day due to low promotions and some how managed to collect the amount of 0.50 crore at domestic box office.
