The biggest Hindi offering of this week among a bunch of new ones, Baazaar, unfortunately, took a poor start in the morning on Friday but picked up well post noon shows in metro cities. As a result, it managed to register a decent opening despite heavy clutter & mixed reviews.
Directed by Gauravv K. Chawla, business crime drama Baazaar has higher budget & star power than the other new releases, but the movie got failed to make the desired impact on the viewers including critics. It stars Saif Ali Khan in lead role, along with Radhika Apte, Chitrangada Singh & debutant Rohan Mehra.
On the opening day, Nikhil Advani’s production started its journey with an occupancy of only 15% nationwide but after a decent jump, it minted 3.07 crores. On Saturday, due to the weekend, the movie witnessed a fair jump and collected 4.10 crores to raise its 2 days total collection to 7.17 crores.
In parallel to it, there is Rajkummar Rao & Nargis Fakhri starrer romantic drama 5 Weddings which has released with low promotions. Also, it has received mixed reviews from the critics and as a result registered the business of only 0.10 crore on Friday. With a limited jump, the movie raked 0.20 crore on Saturday and raised 2 days total to 0.30 crores.
On the other hand, Sharman Joshi’s Kaashi is also not getting enough response at the box office and minted the amount of 0.20 crore on Friday. On Saturday, it collected 0.25 crore and raised its 2 days total to 0.45 crore. While at a dead note, Neil Nitin Mukesh’s Dassehra reported the business of 0.04 crore on Friday & 0.05 crore on Saturday.
