Undoubtedly the most controversial Hindi movie of the year so far, Lipstick Under My Burkha has been released at box office this weekend opposite to Munna Michael and getting positive reviews from everyone. All the critics as well as audience reacted in it’s favor and for impressed by it’s hard hitting content.
Directed by Alankrita Shrivastava, this black drama stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Ratna Pathak, Aahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur in lead roles. All the actresses have given powerful performances which leave strong impact on audience.
On the opening day, Lipstick Under My Burkha recorded dull occupancy for the morning shows but later picked up well due to positive word of mouth and minted the amount of 1.22 crore on Friday. Then with fair growth, it raked 2.17 crores on Saturday.
On the next day i.e. Sunday, the movie showed slight more growth and bagged the amount of 2.41 crores. With this, total opening weekend collection of this Prakash Jha-Ekta Kapoor’s collaboration has become 5.80 crores at domestic box office from 400 screens.
Earlier CBFC (Central Board of Film Certification) denied to certify Lipstick Under My Burkha, stating that “The story is lady oriented, their fantasy above life. There are contagious s3xual scenes, abusive words, audio p0rnography and a bit sensitive touch about one particular section of society”.
But later FCAT (Film Certification Appellate Tribunal) had directed CBFC to pass the movie with A certificate. Produced by Prakash Jha, Lipstick Under My Burkha was released on Friday under the distribution banner Balaji Motion Pictures.
