Munna Michael, the action dance movie that was released this Friday with decent buzz among fans as well as moviegoers, has got failed to show any impressive performance at box office. Despite being Tiger Shroff starrer, it hasn’t attracted much audience toward theaters in the opening weekend.
Due to 3000 screens and high scale promotions, Munna Michael was expected to take good start on Friday, but unfortunately it received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience and raked the opening business of 6.65 crores at domestic box office with overall 20-25% of occupancy.
Although Sabbir Khan’s directorial Munna Michael registered the tenth highest opening of the year so far in Hindi Cinema, but it is far lower than the earlier expectations. Infact Tiger Shroff’s debut movie Heropanti got the opening of 6.63 crores from 2200 screens.
On the next day i.e. Saturday, instead of growth Munna Michael recorded slight drop and minted the amount of 6.32 crores. Then on Sunday being public holiday, it witnessed decent growth in footfalls and collected the amount of 8.70 crores.
With this trend, opening weekend total collection of Munna Michael has become 21.67 crores domestically. On the other hand, Lipstick Under My Burkha which was released with little buzz, did the business of 1.22 crore on Friday and 2.17 crores of Saturday.
Fortunately this Alankrita Shrivastava’s directorial satirical drama received positive reviews from critics as well as viewers. Due to favorable word of mouth, it showed slight more growth on Sunday and collected the amount of 2.41 crores.
