‘The Jungle Book’ sets new height for Hollywood movies in India
The much awaited fantasy-adventure Hollywood movie ‘The Jungle Book’ has released this Friday in India with decent screen count. Walt Disney promoted the movie on a wide scale nationwide and also released it a week before than US release. Most probably the reason behind this, is Shahrukh Khan starrer Fan which is being released next Friday. But doesn’t matter, the decision has come out in an excellent performance of the movie and it has emerged as the second highest opener of the year so far in India after Airlift.
The Jungle Book has completed its first weekend journey with an outstanding business on box office. On its very first day, it witnessed the overall occupancy of 50% and minted the amount of 10.09 cr. On Saturday being partial holiday, it received higher response and did the business of 13.51 cr. After 2 days, total collection of the movie was recorded as 23.60 cr.
On its third day, being Sunday it reported the highest occupancy in theaters and collected the amount of 16.87 cr. Till the end of its opening weekend, total collection of The Jungle Book is recorded as 40.47 cr. With these figures it has become the second highest opening weekend grosser movie of the year so far in India after Airlift.
Whereas the adjacent Bollywood release, Vikram Bhatt’s directorial urban thriller movie Love Games has witnessed flat dull response on box office. It has minted the total amount of 3.06 cr as its weekend collection, that includes 1.03 cr of Friday, 1.01 cr of Saturday and 1.02 cr of Sunday. Due to less promotion, this movie doesn’t has much hype among audience.
