Raja Krishna Menon’s directorial Hollywood remake of 2014’s Chef with same title, has got failed to entertain audience in India as well as overseas. Saif Ali Khan and Padmapriya Janakiraman starrer has unfortunately got mixed reviews from critics and also struggling a lot at box office.
The original version of Chef was a hit and received positive reviews from everyone. But the Indian version has emerged as one of the top disasters of year 2017. Being the only notable offering among 8-9 new arrivals, there were some expectations with Chef, which are badly washed now.
Made with budget of approximately 15 crores, the movie raked the business of only 4 crores in the opening weekend, that included 1.05 crore of Friday, 1.35 crore of Saturday and 1.60 crore of Sunday from 1570 screens across the country.
While the last week’s Judwaa 2 reported far better performance and did the business of 18.10 crores in it’s second weekend. Now Chef has been entered in weekdays and faced abrupt drop in footfalls due to normal working days.
On Monday, the movie witnessed the fall of 57.14% than Friday and minted the amount of 0.45 crore. With this, total 4 days collection of Chef has become 4.45 crores at domestic box office. As per current trend, it doesn’t seem able to do more than 7 crores of business in lifetime.
Saif Ali Khan is seeking for a hit from a long time, his last successful venture was Cocktail in 2012 with co-stars Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty.
