Vicky Kaushal, Paresh Rawal & Yami Gautam starrer the much-anticipated Uri The Surgical Strike has emerged as the first hit Hindi film of 2019. Made with a budget of approx. 25 crores, the war drama has done the business of over 50 crores at the domestic box office within just 5 days of release.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, Uri The Surgical Strike has expectedly hit the target right and is being praised by everyone. The film has received mostly positive reviews from the critics and gained a solid word of mouth. As a result, it has registered an excellent weekend with 35.73 crores which included 8.20 crores on Friday, 12.43 crores on Saturday & 15.10 crores on Sunday.
RSVP Movies’ production is now running on weekdays but due to a partial holiday of Makar Sankranti on Monday, the film remained strong and collected 10.51 crores. On Tuesday, after a slight drop in footfalls, Uri The Surgical Strike minted 9.57 crores raised its 5 days domestic total to 55.81 crores nett from around 2000 screens.
In parallel, Anupam Kher & Akshaye Khanna starrer another much-anticipated Hindi film The Accidental Prime Minister has unfortunately received mixed reviews from the critics and also facing protests in few cities. As a result, it remained an average in the first weekend and did the business of 15.80 crores with 4.50 crores on Friday, 5.30 crores on Saturday & 6 crores on Sunday.
On Monday, Vijay Gutte’s directorial managed to remain steady and raked the business of 4.75 crores. Then on Tuesday, with a noticeable drop in footfalls, TAPM bagged the amount of 4 crores and raised 5 days total collection to 24.55 crores from 1300 screens nationwide.
