Director Hansal Mehta’s Simran and Ranjit Tiwari’s Lucknow Central were released on Friday with decent buzz and registered an average business in the opening weekend. After a below-expected opening, both the movies got failed to remain steady in weekdays due to mixed response at box office.
Very talented actress Kangana Ranaut starrer, Simran is a drama movie revolves around a Gujarati girl, who is housekeeper in US and gets involved in the world of crime unknowingly. Despite her excellent performance, the movie received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience.
In the first weekend, it raked the business of 10.65 crores that included 2.77 crores of Friday, 3.76 crores of Saturday and 4.12 crores of Sunday from 1500 screens. Then in weekdays with heavy drops, Simran minted 1.41 crore on Monday, 1.25 crore on Tuesday and 1.16 crore on Wednesday. With this, it’s 6 days total has become 14.47 crores.
On the other hand, Farhan Akhtar, Diana Penty, Gippy Grewal & more starrer Lucknow Central is a prison escape drama based on a true incident. It also received mixed reviews from critics as well as audience despite solid performances given by all the actors in pivotal roles.
In the opening weekend, the movie did the business of 8.42 crores, that included 2.04 crores of Friday, 2.82 crores of Saturday and 3.56 crores of Sunday from 1200 screens. Then in weekdays, it collected 1.14 crore on Monday, 1.02 crore on Tuesday and 0.95 crore on Wednesday. With this, Lucknow Central raised it’s 6 days domestic total to 11.53 crores.
