In a double time period than expected, Salman Khan’s recent offering Tubelight has emerged as the 11th movie of his career to enter in 100 crore club by the evening of it’s sixth day. Kabir Khan’s directorial the movie was released with enormous buzz among Salman fans as well as moviegoers, and was expected to touch this mark within the opening weekend.
Unfortunately Tubelight received mixed reviews from critics, also due to pre Eid time, it recorded lower footfalls in theaters than expected and remained almost flat over the weekend at box office. The below-expectations performance of the movie is very disappointing for fans as well as it’s entire team.
In the opening weekend, highly awaited Tubelight did the business of 64.77 crores nationwide, that included 21.15 crores of Friday, 21.17 crores of Saturday and 22.45 crores of Sunday from 4350 screens. Although the collection of the movie is strong enough, but as compare to Salman Khan’s previous offerings, it is quite low.
After an under-performed weekend, this war drama was expected to take good jump on Monday due to Eid holiday. But instead of taking jump, it got dropped little and managed to collect the amount of 19.09 crores. Then on Tuesday with a major dip, it minted the amount of 12 crores.
On the next day i.e. Wednesday, Tubelight witnessed more drop and raked the business of 6.50 crores. So after 6 days of release, the movie has become the fifth highest grosser of the year so far in Hindi Cinema with 102.36 crores; and set to surpass the lifetime total of Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil (103.84 crores).
