Opening Week Business Report of ‘Fitoor’ and ‘Sanam Re’
Katrina Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor starrer romantic drama ‘Fitoor’ has been released last Friday with good pre-release hype among audience. But unfortunately received mixed reviews from critics as well as moviegoers due to its slow storyline. The film was earlier expected to rule over box office after release but it hasn’t happened in that way. The adjacent Hindi release ‘Sanam Re’ based on same genre, features not very popular actors Pulkit Samrat, Yami Gautam and Urvashi Rautela in lead roles. Despite of Fitoor, this less star powered film has witnessed higher response at box office and taken a lead over it.
Divya Khosla Kumar’s directorial Sanam Re has received the overall 35-45% of occupancy across the country in opening weekend and raked the business of 17.05 crores, comprises with 5.04 crores of Friday, 5.56 crores of Saturday and 6.45 crores of Sunday. Whereas Fitoor directed by Abhishek Kapoor, minted the total amount of 14.11 crores with 25-35% of occupancy, comprises with 3.61 crores of Friday, 4.54 crores of Saturday and 5.96 crores of Sunday. Fitoor has lagged behind Sanam Re at domestic box office but reported decent business of 10.24 crores in overseas till the end of weekend.
In weekdays, with gradual decrease in occupancy Sanam Re minted the amount of total 8.77 crores, that includes 2.56 crores of Monday, 2.34 crores of Tuesday, 2.11 crores of Wednesday and 1.76 crores of Thursday. In parallel, Fitoor done the business of total 4.50 crores*, that includes 1.63 crore* of Monday, 1.19 crore* of Tuesday, 0.91 crore* of Wednesday and 0.77 crore* of Thursday. Till the end of the week, total collections of the films have become 25.82 crores and 18.61 crores* respectively.
