‘Fan’ Fails to Break Opening Week Record of Airlift
Shahrukh Khan is one of the actors in Bollywood, whose movies release like a festival on box office. The similar scenario was with his latest offering Fan also, but this time the outcome is completely opposite. The thriller drama Fan has been released last Friday with massive excitement of fans as well as audience across the globe. Also it has received very positive reviews from critics. Despite all this, it has not showed any impressive performance in its first week and get failed to break the opening week collection record of Airlift and The Jungle Book as well.
In the weekend, Maneesh Sharma’s directorial had raked the total business of 52.35 cr, that includes 19.20 cr of Friday, 15.40 cr of Saturday and 17.75 cr of Sunday. With this, it become the highest opening weekend grosser of 2016 so far. The figures are better than previous ones but not much impressive as compare to the stardom of Shahrukh. On its overseas screens, Fan did the business of 40.01 cr till weekend.
In weekdays, it faced heavy drops and received very less than expected. On Monday it minted the amount of 6.05 cr with more than 60% of drop. Despite holiday it hadn’t showed any growth on Tuesday and collected 5.75 cr as its 5th day collection. On Wednesday, Fan faced more drop and scored 4.20 cr as its 6th day collection. The on Thursday, it added the amount of 3.15 cr to its account and made its first week total as 71.50 cr on domestic box office. Whereas after a week, Akshay Kumar’s Airlift was at 83.50 cr and The Jungle Book at 74.08 cr.
Now this Yash Raj Films’ latest presentation is being entered in its second weekend. Let see how strong it will stand in opposite to new releases like- Laal Rang, Santa Banta Pvt. Ltd. and Nil Battey Sannata.
