Everyone is Surprised by Baahubali 2 Tsunami

Year’s highly awaited epic action drama Baahubali 2 has now emerged as the biggest blockbuster ever in Indian cinema. From the very first day of release, it is creating records which are near to impossible to break by any upcoming biggie till next decade. The movie has made everyone surprised it’s historical performance at box office globally.

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali 2 made with a record budget of 250 crores, was released on 28th April worldwide with around 9000 screens (including 6500 screens of India) and emerged as the widest release ever in the history of Indian cinema. It fetched around 500 crores pre-release with the satellite, theatrical, music & digital worldwide rights, which is also a massive record in itself.

Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati and Tamannaah Bhatia starrer had enormous pre-release hype among fans as well as audience and collected the amount of more than 30 crores only with it’s advance booking across the country including all the versions (Telugu, Tamil, Hindi & Malayalam). This is the highest pre-booking earning raked by any Indian movie so far.

On the opening day, Baahubali 2 recorded almost 85-90% of occupancy nationwide and garnered the business of 121 crores from 6500 screens. With this, it created the history to enter in 100 crore club domestically on the first day. Also dominated the opening record of Salman Khan’s Diwali released Prem Ratan Dhan Payo (40.35 crores) with it’s Hindi version (41 crores) alone, despite being released on a non-holiday.

After completing double century on the second day, Baahubali 2 garnered the business of total 303 crores in the opening weekend, that included 121 crores of Friday, 90.50 crores of Saturday and 91.50 crores of Sunday. This is incredible record made by the movie, to enter in 300 crore club in just 3 days of release. With it’s Hindi version, sequel to 2015’s Baahubali raked 128 crores (Fri 41cr, Sat 40.50cr, Sun 46.50cr) total and become fastest 100 crore grosser of Hindi cinema so far.

With the opening weekend, Baahubali 2 also entered in 500 crore (gross) club at worldwide box office. On Monday despite being normal working day, it refused to take a dip and registered the maximum Monday record with 40.25 crores of massive business. Also with it’s fourth day, the movie entered in 600 crore (gross) club globally.

On Tuesday also, Baahubali 2 remained strong and collected the amount of 58 crores. This made movie’s total collection as 441 crores nett / 586.57 crores gross. Also it entered in 700 crore gross club at worldwide box office and surpassed the lifetime gross total of it’s previous installment Baahubali: The Beginning (650 crores) in just 5 days of release.

In one week, Baahubali 2 collected 534 crores nett at domestic box office with all it’s versions, that included 247 crores of Hindi alone. With this, it emerged as the all time highest grossing Indian movies at domestic as well as worldwide box office with 876 crores gross.

In just 9 days of release, this epic drama crossed the biggest milestone of 1000 crore gross at worldwide box office. This is for the time in history of Indian cinema, when any movie has entered in this club and still running break-free.

In just 14 days, Hindi version of Baahubali 2 surpassed the lifetime domestic total of Aamir Khan’s Dangal (387.38cr). On 15th day, it unlocked the 400 crore club and emerged as the first Hindi film to rake over 400 crores domestically.

With it’s 33rd day, Baahubali 2 raked the business of more than 1000 crore nett on domestic box office including all the versions. While  34th day of release, it emerged as the first film to enter in 500 crore club in Hindi cinema.

At the time when mostly movies are struggling to complete even 3-4 weeks at box office, the biggest blockbuster of India Cinema Baahubali 2 has proudly completed 100 days of release.
