Due to the strong run of last week’s Baaghi 2 and the commencement of IPL 2018, the latest offering of director Abhinay Deo, Blackmail is getting affected on weekdays. Due to positive word of mouth, it is heading steadily at the box office though, but on a low note.
Starring the very talented Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari in lead roles alongside the strong supporting cast, Blackmail stands high on content and performances. It has impressed all the viewers with the engaging and suspenseful story-line and received mostly positive reviews from the critics.
Being a non-masala flick with no big star, this dark comedy opened on a slow note but picked up well from evening shows due to positive reactions. By remaining steady throughout the opening weekend, it did the business of 11.22 crores, that included 2.81 crores of Friday, 3.85 crores of Saturday and 4.56 crores of Sunday from 1550 screens across the country.
Now Blackmail is running on weekdays and as usual, faced an abrupt drop in footfalls. On Monday, it faced a drop of approx. 40% than Friday and minted the amount of 1.68 crores. With a slight more dip, Irrfan starrer raked the business of 1.52 crores on Tuesday.
With this, the total collection of the film after 5 days has become 14.42 crores at the domestic box office. As per current trend, T-Series and RDP Motion Pictures’ recent collaboration is expected to collect around 16.75 crores by the end of this week.
