Irrfan Khan and Kirti Kulhari starrer the latest Hindi offering Blackmail has got succeed to entertain the viewers. Due to an engaging story-line and brilliant performances of the actors, it has received very positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience across the country.
Directed by Delhi Belly director Abhinay Deo, Blackmail is a smartly scripted dark comedy that has a good amount of suspense and thrill. As a result, the movie has passed its opening weekend on a good note despite a decent opening and the commencement of IPL 2018.
On the opening day, this T-Series and RDP Motion Pictures’ collaboration took a slow start but picked up well post noon shows in multiplexes. It did the business of 2.81 crores on Friday, exactly same as Irrfan’s last year released Hindi Medium but on higher screen count i.e. 1550 screens across India.
On the next day i.e. Saturday, due to positive word of mouth, Blackmail witnessed a fair growth in footfalls and minted the amount of 3.85 crores. Then on Sunday with a further jump, it raked the business of 4.56 crores and raised its first weekend total collection to 11.22 crores at the domestic box office.
On the other hand, Gippy Grewal starrer Punjabi war drama Subedar Joginder Singh has also impressed everyone with its impactful story-line and showed a solid performance throughout the opening weekend. It opened on a good note and minted the amount of 1.75 crores on Friday.
Reporting decent jumps over the weekend, Simerjit Singh’s directorial garnered the business of 2.20 crores on Saturday and 2.55 crores on Sunday. With this, the 3 days total collection of Subedar Joginder Singh has become 6.50 crores nationwide.
