Star filmmaker Karan Johar’s latest Hindi offering Badrinath Ki Dulhania has thoroughly cashed it’s opening weekend on domestic box office. Being much awaited romantic comedy of the year, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer has been released this Friday with immense excitement of their fans. As expected the movie has received very favorable response from audience and remained strong throughout so far.

Director Shashank Khaitan’s Badrinath Ki Dulhania has a good story line along with marvelous chemistry of Varun & Alia, due to which it has received positive reviews from most of the critics and gained positive word of mouth. Both the stars have given heart winning performances and being appreciated by everyone for this. Shashank is also getting praised for his wonderful direction.

It is the second installment of franchise that was began in 2014 with Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and witnessed good occupancy on the opening day due to high initial buzz. With overall 35-40% of occupancy on more than 3000 screens in India, the movie reported the third highest opening of the year so far with 12.25 crores.

On Saturday due to weekend and positive reactions from viewers, Badrinath Ki Dulhania witnessed good jump of around 20% and minted the amount of 14.75 crores. Then on the last of weekend i.e. Sunday, the movie showed more growth and garnered the impressive business of 16.05 crores, which has made its opening weekend domestic total as 43.05 crores.

With this, it has registered fourth highest opening weekend business of the year so far after Raees, Kaabil & Jolly LLB 2. Now on Monday there is a holiday due to Holi festival, so Varun-Alia starrer is positively expected to remain steady on the fourth day too.
