Despite Lesser Screen Count, Wonder Woman Performs Better than Baywatch
This week’s released Hollywood offering of Indian actress Priyanka Chopra, Baywatch unfortunately dominated by the adjacent release Wonder Woman at Indian box office as well as worldwide. Despite being released only in English and on lesser screens, Gal Gadot starrer performing better across the country.
Seth Gordon’s directorial action comedy Baywatch received mixed reviews from critics as well as Indian audience. On the opening day, it recorded the occupancy of only 20% and did the business of 1.75 crores from around 950 screens (Hindi, English, Tamil & Telugu), 0.25 crore it collected on Thursday with it’s paid previews.
On Saturday, the movie showed little jump and fetched the amount of 2.15 crore. Then on Sunday due to India Vs Pakistan cricket match, Baywatch witnessed slight fall and minted 1.85 crore to take it’s opening weekend total to 6 crores nett.
While Patty Jenkins’ directorial action adventure Wonder Woman received positive reviews from critics as well as viewers, which generated good word of mouth about it. On the opening day, it recorded highest occupancy of 30% among all the new offerings and collected 2.25 crores from 350 screens (English only).
On Saturday, it took decent jump and raked the business of 2.75 crores. Then on Sunday with expected fall due to India Vs Pakistan cricket match, Wonder Woman garnered 2.40 crores and made it’s opening weekend total as 7.40 crores nett across India.
Now both the movies have entered in weekdays and witnessed usual drop due to normal working days. On Monday, Baywatch registered the business of 0.85 crore with more than 50% of drop than Friday. While Wonder Woman added 1.10 crores with around 49% of drop.
