Box Office: Hindi Medium Total Collection, Year’s Biggest Unexpected Bollywood Hit So Far

Hindi Medium Shows the Power of it’s Content at Domestic Box Office

Despite being released opposite to the much awaited romantic drama Half Girlfriend, Hindi Medium successfully maintained a good pace in the opening week and still running fine at domestic box office after 2 weeks of release. This shows the true power of good content, which kept it moving smoothly so far.

Irrfan Khan and Pakistani actress Saba Qamar starrer this comedy drama received positive reviews from critics as well as viewers, which generated strong word of mouth for it among rest audience of all age-groups. Everyone appreciating the performances of entire starcast as well as movie’s story which is quite relevant and connecting.

In the opening week, Saket Chaudhary’s directorial did the good business of 25.21 crores nett, despite decent opening of 2.81 crores. First week total of Hindi Medium was included 12.56 crores of weekend and 12.65 crores of weekdays from 1126 screens across the country.

In the second week, very impressively the movie remained steady opposite to newly released Sachin A Billion Dreams and fetched the amount of 20.88 crores with 12.14 crores in weekend and 8.74 crores in weekdays. While Half Girlfriend witnessed abrupt fall of around 80% than it’s opening week’s business.

Hindi Medium is now running in it’s third week and still has good hold over the audience. In the third weekend, the movie garnered the business of 7.51 crores, including 1.76 crore of Friday, 2.75 crores of Saturday and 3 crores of Sunday.

After 17 days of release, T-Series Films’ this presentation recorded the total domestic business of 53.60 crores. Now once again the movie has entered in weekdays but still not ready to slow down.

On 3rd Monday, Hindi Medium collected 1.30 crore and made it’s 18 days total as 54.90 crores. On Tuesday too, it reported almost similar pace and raked 1.31 crore from 773 screens to raise it’s domestic total to 56.21 crores.

Due to lesser star power and screen count than opposite release, it wasn’t expected to perform like this. But the movie proved everyone wrong and emerged as the biggest unexpected hit of the year in Bollywood so far.
