Opening Day Collection of ‘Raabta’ and ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ at Domestic Box Office
Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon’s much awaited romantic action drama Raabta has been released at box office this Friday on 1820 screens across the country. Unfortunately despite good promotion strategy and star power, the movie opened on a lower note than expected.
Due to Hollywood’s The Mummy and other new adjacent offerings, Dinesh Vijan’s directorial started it’s opening day with 15% of occupancy nationwide. Also it has not received favorable reviews from critics as well as viewers, because of which the movie recorded limited growth over evening & night shows.
Audience found the chemistry between Sushant and Kriti crackling but the confusing story line of Raabta pulls it back. Anyways with the support of fans and initial buzz, the movie managed to take decent start of 5.61 crores. Being a most hyped Hindi offering of this week, it might take decent jump over the weekend.
On the other hand, Rajkummar Rao and Shruti Haasan starrer romantic comedy Behen Hogi Teri has been released with average pre-release hype among audience. But because of universal genre and ofcourse the presence of promising actor Rajkummar, it witnessed some footfalls in theaters.
Surprisingly Ajay K Pannalal’s directorial received little better review than Raabta, over expectation with the opposite one might be the reason of this. Critics liked the performance of Rajkummar and found the movie watchable to some extent.
While Behen Hogi Teri opened with only 5-10% occupancy on 757 screens in India and raked dull business of 0.32 crore. Despite low hype, the movie can get the benefit of it’s genre and witness little growth over the weekend.
On the other hand, Tom Cruise starrer much awaited The Mummy got comparatively higher occupancy among all the new releases. But due to lower screen count, it collected lesser business on Friday at Indian box office.
