First Day Collection of ‘Rangoon’ across India
This week’s new solo Hindi offering Rangoon has been released on around 1800 screens with good buzz among audience across the country. Reportedly, despite the holiday on account of Maha Shivaratri, it has not received much response on its opening day as compare to earlier expectations.
Vishal Bhardwaj’s directorial this period romantic drama is set in 1944 during second world war. Due to flawless direction and brilliant performances by the lead stars Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut, the movie has impressed most of the critics and received positive reviews.
As per critics, all the actors have given stellar performances which make Rangoon a must watch movie. They have also appreciated the direction of Bhardwaj with open heart. Most of the viewers have also liked the movie and showed thumbs up for it. Even though Rangoon reported lesser business than the predicted figures.
On its opening day, it opened with only 15% of occupancy across the country and witnessed little growth from evening shows in multiplexes. With overall 20-25% of occupancy on Friday, Rangoon minted the collection of 5.05 crores net domestically.
Obviously the opening business doesn’t satisfy but with such positive reactions from viewers as well as critics, the movie is expected to show decent growth over the weekend. Looking toward the previous records, then Kangana’s last offering Katti Batti opened with 5.28 crores, while Saif’s Phantom did 8.46 crores and Shahid’s Udta Punjab did 10.05 crores.
