Box Office: Shivaay 8th Day Collection, Surpasses Lifetime Total of Kapoor & Sons

8 Days Total Collection of ‘Shivaay’ on Domestic Box Office

A week ago released action thriller Shivaay has registered seventh highest opening week collection of the year so far after Sultan, Rustom, Airlift, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Housefull 3 & Fan. Being one of the much awaited movies of the year, superstar Ajay Devgn’s directorial has been released with enormous hype among fans and as expected received favorable response from viewers across the country.

Audience liked Shivaay very much, especially the actions and acting done the Ajay Devgn. It’s camera work and visuals undoubtedly give competition to Hollywood. This is why, it has received very positive reviews from most of the critics as well as moviegoers. The movie has raked lesser business than the adjacent release Ae Dil Hai Mushkil but got higher average rating of 7.4/10 on IMDb.

These positive reactions created strong word of mouth about Shivaay and kept it rock steady through out the opening week. With good occupancy, it did the business of 28.56 crores (Fri 10.24cr, Sat 10.06cr, Sun 8.26cr) in the opening weekend despite Diwali pooja and heavy competition with ADHM.

In weekdays due to holidays on Monday & Tuesday, the movie showed impressive business and minted the amounts of 17.35 crores & 11.05 crores respectively. Then in normal working days, it faced usual drop and raked the business of 7.40 crores & 6.05 crores on Wednesday & Thursday respectively. After the opening week, total collection of Shivaay was recorded as 70.41 crores on domestic box office.

Now the movie has entered in the second week and reported slight more drop on its 2nd Friday. As per the report, Shivaay has done the business of 4.61 crores and made its 8 days domestic total as 75.02 crores. With this, Ajay starrer has surpassed the lifetime total of Kapoor & Sons (73.25 crores) and become tenth highest grossing movie of the year so far.
