35 Days Total Collection of Shivaay & Ae Dil Hai Mushkil (ADHM)
After several flops, finally Ranbir Kapoor has tasted the flavor of success with his recent offering Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. Being highly promoted, Karan Johar’s directorial this romantic drama had been released this Diwali with immense excitement of fans and as expected witnessed overwhelmed response from audience across the country as well as overseas.
Opposite to ADHM, superstar Ajay Devgn’s much awaited Shivaay had also been released on the same day and received favorable response from audience but lagged behind the adjacent one at box office. From the very first day, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil had taken lead over the next and kept it maintained till now. With positive reviews by most of the critics and viewers, both the movies remained strong in couple of weeks.
In the opening week, Ranbir-Anushka-Aishwarya starrer registered the excellent business of 80.19 crores from 2500 screens across India, whereas Shivaay also raked quite good business of 70.41 crores despite heavy competition. In the second week too, both remained steady and minted 24.67 crores & 22.99 crores respectively.
Afterward due to the decision of demonetization of ₹500 & ₹1000 note, box office started suffering from crisis. Because of which, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil & Shivaay faced abrupt fall in their business graph and reported the business of only 5.35 crores & 4.75 crores respectively in the third week.
Now more new releases were also there in race to compete, so audience got diverted and with further decrements in their business, ADHM & Shivaay scored only 1.93 crore & 1.65 crore on the board in fourth week. After 4 weeks, their total domestic collections were recorded as 112.14 crores & 99.80 crores respectively.
In the fifth week, latest release Shahrukh Khan & Alia Bhatt starrer Dear Zindagi performed excellently and pushed all previous releases to the end of their life. But the good news is, Ajay Devgn’s Shivaay has entered in the 100 crore club domestically.
In the fifth week, it added the amount of 0.25 crore (Fri 0.07cr, Sat 0.08cr, Sun 0.10cr) in weekend and 0.20 crore (Mon 0.06cr, Tue 0.05cr, Wed 0.05cr, Thu 0.04cr) to its account, which made its 5 weeks domestic total as 100.25 crores.
While Ae Dil Hai Mushkil managed to collect 0.15 crore (Fri 0.04cr, Sat 0.05cr, Sun 0.06cr) in its fifth weekend and 0.10 crore (Mon 0.03cr, Tue 0.03cr, Wed 0.02cr, Thu 0.02cr) in weekdays, which made its 5 weeks domestic total as 112.39 crores.
