After the successful opening week, the Hindi remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat Dhadak has passed the second week as well on a solid note. Despite having the new Hollywood biggie Mission: Impossible – Fallout in parallel, this newcomers starrer film maintained a good pace and become 10th highest grosser of the year so far in Hindi cinema.
Produced by Karan Johar under the banner Dharma Productions, Dhadak is directed by Shashank Khaitan who has a cent per cent success rate so far. His last two directorial offerings were hit and the new one has also joined the same club. Despite mixed reactions, this romantic drama is doing very well at the box office.
Starring Ishaan Khatter & Janhvi Kapoor in lead roles, the film was released amid good buzz and opened on a strong note. By remaining steady throughout, it registered the business of 51.56 crores in the first week that included 33.67 crores of the weekend and 17.89 crores of weekdays from 2235 screens nationwide.
In the second weekend as well, Dhadak managed to stay steady despite being affected by MI6 & Sanju. Zee Studios’ presentation did the business of 11.83 crores with 2.61 crores on 2nd Friday, 4.02 crores on 2nd Saturday & 5.20 crores on 2nd Sunday at the domestic box office.
Then on weekdays, after a usual drop in footfalls, Ishaan-Janhvi starrer minted the amount of 1.56 crores on 2nd Monday, 1.50 crores on 2nd Tuesday and 1.39 crores on 2nd Wednesday. On the next day i.e. 2nd Thursday, with a further dip, Dhadak collected 1.33 crores and raised its 2 weeks total collection to 69.17 crores nett.
