Leaving many surprised, Karan Johar’s recent production starring newcomers Dhadak got succeed to pull major crowd toward itself. By remaining steady throughout, it has registered a strong opening week at the domestic box office despite getting mixed critic reviews and having mighty Sanju & other previous releases in parallel.
Being the remake of Marathi blockbuster Sairat, Dhadak was released with a big responsibility on its shoulder. Although it has not received much positive feedback from the audience, still the box office numbers are solid enough because of wide-scale promotions and huge popularity of the original.
After an impressive start, Shashank Khaitan’s directorial recorded a fair jump over the opening weekend and did the business of 33.67 crores with 8.71 crores on Friday, 11.04 crores on Saturday, and 13.92 crores on Sunday from 2235 screens across the country.
Then on weekdays, Dhadak witnessed a normal drop in footfalls and minted the amount of 5.52 crores on Monday. With further dips, it managed to collect the amount of 4.76 crores on Tuesday and 4.06 crores on Wednesday. On the next day i.e. Thursday, the movie faced a slight more drop and raked 3.55 crores.
With this, the total collection of Zee Studios’ presentation after a week has become 51.56 crores nett (66.10 crores gross) at the domestic box office. Let see will it retain the same pace in the next week also opposite Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3 & Hollywood’s highly anticipated Mission Impossible: Fallout.
