This Holi, the audience will miss a biggie from Bollywood. Like last week, this Friday too, a couple of moderate-budgeted Hindi offerings are being released at the box office- Pari and Veerey Ki Wedding. This is not a serious clash, as both the movies are based on different genres and attract separate segments of the audience.
Directed by the debutant Prosit Roy, Pari is not a fairytale but a supernatural horror movie, that marks the third production of Anushka Sharma. It stars Anushka in a lead role along with Parambrata Chatterjee, Ritabhari Chakraborty, Rajat Kapoor, and Mansi Multani in supporting roles.
After NH10 and Phillauri, this is third production venture of Anushka’s banner Clean Slate Films. Content-wise, both her previous movies were good and this is why Pari is quite anticipated. Also with its promos, the movie created good interest among fans.
Looking back the box office records of Anushka-driven films, 2015’s NH10 did the opening business of 3.35 crores, while 2017’s Phillauri opened with 4.02 crores. Considering the facts that Pari is not releasing solo and it is Holi festival on Friday, and figures, the new one is expected to open in a range of 3-4 crores.
On the other hand, Ashu Trikha’s directorial Veerey Ki Wedding is a romantic comedy, stars Pulkit Samrat, Jimmy Shergill and Kriti Kharbanda in lead roles. In terms of star power and buzz, it lags behind Pari but attracts a major segment of audience due to its universal genre.
Veerey Ki Wedding has no direct competition with Pari, but last week released Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety will definitely hamper its run. So keeping that in mind, this one seems capable to register the opening in between 1.50-2.50 crores. Further performance depends on the reactions of critics and the audience.
