The highly anticipated Hindi movie of the year Gold was released on Independence Day amid the huge excitement of fans. As expected this sports drama got succeed to impress viewers and took a massive start at the box office. Next day, it faced a big drop in footfalls but picked up again on its third day.
The latest offering of superstar Akshay Kumar, Gold has successfully received golden reviews from the critics as well as the audience. As a result, it has gained a positive word of mouth nationwide and leading ahead of adjacent release John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate.
On the first day, Reema Kagti’s directorial opened on an excellent note in the morning due to high initial buzz & a national holiday. Over the evening & night shows, it recorded a healthy growth in multiplexes and registered the third highest opening of the year so far with 25.25 crores.
After such an exceptional start, Gold has become the biggest opener of Akshay Kumar’s career and 19th best of all time in Hindi cinema. On the next day i.e. Thursday, being a normal working mid-week day, it resulted in a big drop and the film collected the amount of only 8.10 crores.
On Friday, Excel Entertainment’s presentation witnessed a fair jump of 24.70% than Thursday and minted the amount of 10.10 crores. With this, the total collection of Gold after 3 days has become 43.45 crores nett (55.70 crores gross) from 3050 screens at the domestic box office.
