Gold 9th Day Box Office Collection: Crosses 89 Crores from India in an Extended 9-Days Week

One of the two major Hindi films that were released on Independence Day, Gold has passed its 9-days extended opening week on an excellent note. Despite having the successfully running John Abraham’s Satyameva Jayate in its parallel, Akshay Kumar starrer this sports drama has raked the business of more than 90 crores nett within 9 days of release domestically.

Directed by Reema Kagti, Gold has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience for its solid content and outstanding performance by the entire cast. Definitely being the highly anticipated film, everyone was expecting higher numbers on board after a week, but due to a strong hold of Satyameva Jayate on single screens, it witnessed a dent.

Due to the high initial buzz and a national holiday, Excel Entertainment’s production opened on an exceptional note and registered the biggest opening of Akshay Kumar’s career. By maintaining a good pace throughout despite a major drop on day-2, the film collected 71.30 crores in the 5-days extended weekend with 25.25 crores on Wednesday, 8.10 crores on Thursday, 10.10 crores on Friday, 12.30 crores on Saturday, and 15.55 crores on Sunday.

Then on weekdays, as usual, Gold recorded lower footfalls but still kept its buzz loud across the country. On Monday, after a drop of 50.62% than Thursday, it minted the amount of 4 crores. With a considerable rise in footfalls, the film collected 4.60 crores on Tuesday and 6.10 crores on 2nd Wednesday (Eid-Al-Adha).

On the next day i.e. 2nd Thursday, AA Films’ presentation reported a drop and raked the business of 3.30 crores. With this, the total collection of Gold after its extended 9-days first week has become 89.30 crores nett. Now in the new week, it will have running-comedy Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi & romantic action Genius also in the competition along with SMJ.
