After an excellent opening week, Independence Day release two Hindi films Gold & Satyameva Jayate have passed the second weekend as well as on a solid note despite having newer ones in the opposite. With a strong word of mouth, both remained the primary choices of the audience on the single as well as multi-screen cinemas.
Based on India’s first Olympic gold medal as an independent nation, Reema Kagti’s directorial Gold has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience. By remaining steady throughout the 9-days extended week, it did the business of 89.30 crores with 71.30 crores on the 5-days weekend and 18 crores on weekdays.
On its 2nd Friday, Excel Entertainment’s production faced a usual drop and minted the amount of 1.85 crores. Then on 2nd Saturday, this sports drama took a solid jump of 67.57% and collected the amount of 3.10 crores. On the next day i.e. 2nd Sunday, with a further jump, Akshay Kumar’s Gold raked the business of 4.75 crores and raised 12 days total collection to 99 crores.
On the other hand, John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate has also got succeed to hit the target right and received a thumbs up from the viewers. With a good hold throughout, it registered the business of 75.09 crores in the opening week, that included 56.91 crores of the 5-days weekend and 18.18 crores of weekdays.
On 2nd Friday, with a usual drop in footfalls, Milap Milan Zaveri’s directorial reported the business of 1.82 crores. Then on 2nd Saturday, it took a jump of 20.88% and minted the amount of 2.20 crores. With a solid growth, SMJ bagged the amount of 4.32 crores and raised its 12 days total collection to 83.43 crores nett at the domestic box office.
