The two new Hindi offerings of this week, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi & Genius have opened on a lower note than expected. Due to the presence of Gold & Satyameva Jayate which are still ruling the box office, both the latest films are struggling to divert the audience toward themselves.
Presented by Eros International and Aanand L. Rai, Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi is a sequel to 2016’s semi-hit Happy Bhag Jayegi. For its hilarious dialogues & excellent performance by the entire cast but weak plot, the film is getting mixed reviews from the critics, although the audience has liked it.
On the first day, Mudassar Aziz’s directorial opened on a slow note with 5-10% of occupancy for the morning shows. After a decent jump post noon shows, it registered the opening business of 2.70 crores. On Saturday, with a growth of 49.26%, Sonakshi Sinha starrer collected 4.03 crores and raised its 2 days total to 6.73 crores.
On the other hand, the second release Genius is directed by Anil Sharma who is known for making blockbuster Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. This action thriller introduces Sharma’s son Utkarsh & debutante Ishita Chauhan in lead roles along with Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
Unfortunately, Genius got failed to leave an impact on critics as well as the audience and registered the business of only 0.75 crore on Friday. On Saturday, with a decent increment, it minted 1 crore and raised its 2 days total collection to 1.75 crores at the domestic box office.
