Third collaboration of Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif after 2009’s Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and 2010’s Rajneeti, Jagga Jasoos was released this Friday after quite a long time. As expected it took decent start on the opening day, but picked up very well from the next day and eventually completed the opening weekend on a good note.
Directed by Anurag Basu, Jagga Jasoos received mixed reviews from critics but audience found it interesting and loved the chemistry between Ranbir and Katrina. Due to the favorable reactions from most of the viewers, the movie gained good word of mouth and diverted major segment toward itself despite having new American offering War For The Planet Of The Apes in opposite.
On the opening day, this musical adventure drama recorded decent occupancy across the country and did the business of 8.57 crores from around 1800 screens. With which it emerged as the eighth highest opener of the year so far in Hindi cinema and ninth highest of Ranbir’s career.
On Saturday being weekend and due to positive reactions, Jagga Jasoos witnessed fair growth of 34.5% and minted the amount of 11.53 crores. Then with further jump on Sunday, it bagged the amount of 13.07 crores and raised it’s opening weekend total collection to 33.17 crores at domestic box office.
Now the movie has been entered in weekdays and due to normal working days started getting lower footfalls than before. On Monday, it faced the drop of around 53% and raked the business of 4.05 crores. After 4 days of release, total domestic collection of Jagga Jasoos is recorded as 37.22 crores.
