Kalank 2nd Day Collection: Alia Bhatt – Varun Dhawan starrer Drops on Thursday

After registering the biggest opening of the year so far on Wednesday, the very much-awaited Hindi period drama movie Kalank has witnessed a significant drop on Thursday. Although, with a good response from multiplexes across India, it still remains strong at the box office.

Featuring big names like Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan & Aditya Roy Kapur in lead roles, Kalank has solid star power. But unfortunately, the movie has got failed to convince critics as well as the audience with its storyline and received mixed reactions.

On Wednesday, Karan Johar, Sajid Nadiadwala & Fox Star Studios’ production took a good start in the morning due to high initial buzz & a partial holiday of Mahavir Jayanti. Over the evening & nights shows, it recorded a fair jump in multiplexes and registered the opening business of 21.60 crores from 4000 screens nationwide.

On the next day i.e. Thursday, Kalank witnessed an unexpected drop in footfalls and minted the amount of 11.45 crores. With this, the total collection of the movie after 2 days has become 33.05 crores nett at the domestic box office. On Friday, there is a holiday on accounts of Good Friday, so it is expected to pick up again.

Directed by Abhishek Varman, Kalank is set in 1945 in the pre-Independence British era. Being a big budget movie, Fox Star Studios’ presentation has to remain strong throughout the 5-days extended weekend and then on weekdays as well.
