The new Hindi offering of this week, Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika- The Queen of Jhansi is now in theatres opposite to Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray which has also released on the same day. Both the films have registered an overall decent opening at the domestic box office.
Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi & Kangana herself, the period drama Manikarnika has got succeed to live up to the expectations. From the critics as well, it has received mostly positive reviews and gathered a good word of mouth. Everyone is praising the work done by the leading actress Kangana.
On the opening day, Zee Studios’ presentation took an average start with an occupancy of around 25% across India. Over the evening and night shows, expectedly it witnessed a growth in footfalls in multiplexes and managed to collect the business of 8.75 crores from 3000 screens including Hindi, Tamil & Telugu.
In parallel, Abhijit Panse’s directorial the biopic of Balasaheb Thackeray has also got succeed to impress the viewers and received mostly positive reviews from the critics. Backed by the stellar performance on Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film has recorded a massive response in Maharashtra on the first day.
On Friday, Thackeray opened to a low note with 10% occupancy but post noon shows it showed good growth and registered the opening business of 6 crores from the Indian screens. On Saturday, both the offerings are expected to take a healthy jump due to a public holiday on accounts of Republic Day.
