These books sold at railway station stalls and small roadside and pavement shops in North India through the 1980s and 90s. Jaiswal, who was the screenwriter for films like Gangs of Wasseypur (2012), makes his directorial debut with the film. This film released with 5other Bollywood films of low budget. Moreover till now Mastram has been liked by many people in different areas due to its adult content and spicy elements in the film. Mastram is a low budget movie but it got decent collections at box office openings and even till its first week end. The film dealing with the protagonist’s writer’s block which eventually leads him to becoming a porn writer received rave reviews for its unheard story line and a unique presentation.
Mastram 7th Day Box Office Collection
Earlier launched at the Mumbai Film Festival, the praises have been abundant for this movie. Also the lead cast performances seemed to impress the critics. Without any pre-release buzz, Mastram managed to grab enough eyeballs. On its 7th day of release Mastram has managed to collect a good amount considering its low production and overall cost and total First Week Box Office Collection of Mastram is 4.5 Crores with 7th day business of around 0.14 Crore. The film already gained a lot of buzz post its release and it did pick up over the first weekend due to low public response for other co releases of Bollywood which all were very average.
