The much-awaited offering of South Indian superstar Suriya, NGK (Nandha Gopala Kumaran) has finally hit the screens on Friday amid huge excitement of fans. Expectedly, the Tamil political drama has taken a solid start at the box office across Tamil Nadu.
Directed by Selvaraghavan, NGK stars Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh opposite Suriya. All the leading actors have performed excellently and are being praised by everyone especially Suriya. For its gripping content & wonderful performances, the movie has received mostly positive reviews from the critics.
On Friday, Dream Warrior Pictures’ production took a terrific opening in the morning with more than 90% occupancy down south. Over the evening & night shows, it remained super strong and managed to register the business of 9 crores at the TN box office including 1.03 crore from Chennai, which is higher than Suriya’s last film Thaana Serndha Kootam (7.50 crores).
From the other parts of India and overseas market also, NGK has recorded an excellent response and grossed the opening business of 16 crores from around 1400 screens worldwide. As per the current trend, it is positively expected to remain strong over the weekend.
In parallel to NGK, there is another Tamil film Devi 2 that was released on the same day but got failed to make the desired impact on critics as well as the audience. While the Hollywood sci-fi Godzilla 2: King Of The Monsters has its targeted audience and running decently across India.
