After passing the opening week on a decent note, Varun Dhawan’s latest offering October showed better-than-expected performance in its second week. Despite ongoing IPL matches and several new releases from Bollywood, it remained steady throughout its second week and dragged itself to a safe side.
Directed by the ace filmmaker Shoojit Sircar, October is the first-ever collaboration of Varun with him. Being an offbeat romantic drama, it hasn’t received a desired response from the audience, but still managed to score decent numbers at the box office with good critical acclaim.
Because of low contribution from the single screens, Varun Dhawan and the debutante Banita Sandhu starrer opened on a slow note. By maintaining a decent pace, it did the business of 30.24 crores in the opening week, that included 20.25 crores of the weekend and 9.99 crores of weekdays.
In the second weekend, October took fair growth and reported the business of 9.58 crores, that included 1.89 crores of 2nd Friday, 3.42 crores of 2nd Saturday and 4.27 crores of 2nd Sunday. Then on weekdays, it faced a usual drop but still managed to remain steady.
On 2nd Monday, the movie collected the amount of 1.14 crore with a drop of 39.50% than the previous day. With further decrements, it minted the amount of 1.08 crore on 2nd Tuesday and 0.95 crore on 2nd Wednesday. On the next day i.e. 2nd Thursday, October bagged 0.80 crore and raised its 2 weeks total collection to 43.79 crores at the domestic box office.
