After passing the opening week on a decent note, Shoojit Sircar’s October is heading decently on its second weekend as well despite two new Hindi offerings of this week. Due to critical acclaim, the movie is getting a consistent response from the multiplex going audience across the country.
Starring the young superstar of Bollywood Varun Dhawan and debutante Banita Sandhu, October is an unusual love story based on a thin line subject. The movie has received mostly positive reviews for its heartwarming story and the brilliant performances though, but it strictly targets multiplex audience.
The first-ever collaboration of Shoojit and Varun, this unconventional romantic drama took a slow start at the box office because of low contribution from single screens. But due to a favorable word of mouth, it showed healthy jump over the weekend and did the business of 20.25 crores that included 5.04 crores of Friday, 7.47 crores of Saturday and 7.74 crores of Sunday.
Fortunately, October remained steady on weekdays and minted the amount of 2.70 crores on Monday, 2.61 crores on Tuesday, 2.43 crores on Wednesday and 2.25 crores on Thursday. After a week, the total collection of the movie was recorded 30.24 crores from 1683 screens across India.
Now Varun-Banita starrer is running on its second weekend and still has enough hold on the multiplex audience. On 2nd Friday, it did the business of 1.89 crores after a drop of 16% than the previous day. Then on 2nd Saturday with an excellent jump, October bagged the amount of 3.42 crores and raised its 9 days domestic total to 35.55 crores.
