Surrounded by numerous controversies, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Padmaavat was released on Republic Day weekend with huge buzz among the audience. Despite all the odds, the film has got succeed to impress all the viewers and rake excellent numbers at the box office.
Because of protests and threats, Padmaavat that was earlier titled as Padmavati wasn’t released in several major states of India, as a result, it opened to a lesser note than expected but still excellent. Over the weekend, it picked up terrifically and did the business of 166.50 crores in the first week, that included 114 crores of 4-days weekend and 52.50 crores of weekdays.
In the second week as well, Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer remained strong and raked the business of 69.50 crores with 46 crores on weekend and 23.50 crores on weekdays. Now the film is running in its third week and once again showed noticeable performance in the weekend.
On 3rd Friday, Padmaavat faced a drop of 30% than the previous day and minted the amount of 3.50 crores. On the next day i.e. 3rd Saturday, it took solid growth and collected the amount of 6.30 crores. Then on 3rd Sunday, the film bagged 8 crores and raised its total collection after the third weekend to 253.80 crores.
Now Bhansali’s directorial has entered in normal working days but still managed to remain steady on 3rd Monday. On its 19th-day, Padmaavat witnessed a drop of approx. 9% than Friday and garnered the business of 3.20 crores. With this, its total collection has become 257 crores at the domestic box office.
