After an excellent opening, this Thursday released epic period drama Padmaavat took remarkable growth in footfalls on Friday due to Republic Day holiday and also remained equally strong on Saturday. With that, the film has gone past 80 crores at domestic box office.
Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Padmaavat went through a tough time due to protests against it’s release. After the clearance from censor board, the film finally got released worldwide excluding several states of India that include Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
In Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Bihar and Haryana as well, Padmaavat hasn’t got a complete release. Despite all that, it opened to an excellent note and did the business of 19 crores which is the highest opening leading stars Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor so far.
A day before, Viacom 18 Motion Pictures’ presentation also had paid previews commenced from evening and collected 5 crores that made it’s opening day total as 24 crores. On the next day i.e. Friday, there was a holiday on accounts of Republic Day. Due to which the film witnessed superb growth of more than 68% and collected 32 crores.
Then on Saturday, being the partial holiday resulted out equally strong as Friday. On it’s third day, Padmaavat recorded 15.60% of drop and minted 27 crores. With this, total 3 days collection of Deepika-Ranveer-Shahid starrer has become 83 crores at domestic box office.
Bhansali’s magnum opus is all set to enter in 100 crore club by it’s 4th day i.e. Sunday. Due to whopping budget, the film is required to remain strong in weekdays as well.
