Superstar Akshay Kumar’s first release of this year, PadMan has missed the 100-crore club though, but it has received huge appreciation all across the globe and emerged hit. Yes, earlier it was expected to perform better, but Padmaavat hampered its run and also single screens didn’t receive an acceptable response.
Directed by R.Balki, PadMan has received very positive reviews from all the viewers but got failed to attract the family audience because of its taboo subject- menstrual hygiene. As a result, it remained strong for a week but witnessed an abrupt drop in footfalls afterward.
In the opening week, this social drama opened to a solid note and did the business of 62.87 crores by remaining steady throughout. Then in the second week, it got dropped by 78% and raked the business of 13.78 crores.
With usual drops in footfalls, PadMan collected the amount of 3.35 crores in the third week and 1.10 crore in the fourth. After the 4 weeks, the total collection of the film had recorded 81.10 crores at the domestic box office.
Now Twinkle Khanna’s debut production is running in the fifth week and completed the weekend on a very low note. PadMan has added approximately 0.15 crore to its account in the fifth weekend and raised the one month (31 days) total collection to 81.25 crores.
