After a decent start and positive reviews, Padman was expected to remain steady for at least two weeks. But on the contrary, it has slowed down just after a week and now the 100-crore mark seems out of its reach. On the other hand, controversial Padmaavat is doing well in its fourth week as well.
Based on a taboo topic- menstrual hygiene, Padman received huge appreciation from the audience as well as critics but at the box office, it still got failed to break the spell of existing biggie Padmaavat. And now it has Aiyaary and Black Panther also in the opposite.
Being a non-masala movie, R.Balki’s directorial registered a decent opening and recorded fair growth over the opening weekend. Due to partial holidays, it remained steady on weekdays as well and did the business of total 62.87 crores in the first week that included 40.05 crores of the weekend and 22.82 crores of weekdays from 2750 screens.
Padman is running in the second week now and passed the weekend on a low but steady note. With a drop of 45.75% than the previous day, the movie did the business of 2.10 crores on 2nd Friday. After a decent rise, it minted 3.15 crores on 2nd Saturday and 3.78 crores on 2nd Sunday.
Post the second weekend, the total collection of the movie was 71.90 crores. Now Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte starrer has entered on weekdays and bagged the amount of 1.50 crore on 2nd Monday after a considerable drop. With this, its 11 days collection has become 73.40 crores at the domestic box office.
