Starring superstar Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte, Padman has already become hit at the box office but achieving more height doesn’t seem possible for it now. The movie is slowing down considerably after a week and the mark of 100-crore is still far away.
Being based on a relevant social issue, Padman has received huge appreciation from the audience as well as critics but still, single screens haven’t contributed much to its business. Due to high pre-release buzz, it was expected to perform steadily for long like Akshay’s Toilet Ek Prem Katha.
On the opening day, R.Balki’s directorial started its journey on a decent note and picked up well over the weekend because of positive word of mouth. In the first week, it did the business of 62.87 crores that included 40.05 crores of the weekend and 22.82 crores of weekdays from 2750 screens.
Now Padman is running in the second week and passed this weekend on a steady but low note. It bagged the amount of 9.03 crores in the second weekend that included 2.10 crores of Friday, 3.15 crores of Saturday and 3.78 crores of Sunday.
Then on weekdays, as usual, the movie faced a sudden drop in footfalls and minted the amount of 1.50 crore on 2nd Monday and 1.25 crore on its 2nd Tuesday. With a further decrement, Padman has collected 1 crore on 2nd Wednesday and raised 13 days total collection to 75.65 crores at the domestic box office.
