Superstar Akshay Kumar’s first offering of the year Padman has become hit already, but unfortunately, it is about to wind up quite soon than expected. The movie received very positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience, but still got failed to break the spell of existing one Padmaavat.
Being a non-masala flick, Padman didn’t get an acceptable response on single screens, as a result, it slowed down abruptly at the box office just after a week of release. Unlike Akshay’s last social drama Toilet Ek Prem Katha, 100-crore mark is now out of reach to this one.
After the two almost-decent weeks, R.Balki’s directorial passed the third weekend on a steady but low note. It did the business of 2.30 crores that included 0.50 crore of 3rd Friday, 0.80 crore of 3rd Saturday and 1 crore of 3rd Sunday.
Then on weekdays, with usual drops, it bagged the amount of 0.35 crore on 3rd Monday, 0.30 crore on 3rd Tuesday and 0.20 crore on 3rd Wednesday. On the next day i.e. 3rd Thursday, Padman minted 0.20 crore and raised its 3 weeks total collection to 80 crores at the domestic box office.
In the first week, Akshay-Sonam-Radhika starrer did the business of 62.87 crores that included 40.05 crores of the weekend and 22.82 crores of weekdays. Then with a considerable drop, it collected 13.78 crores in the second week with 9.03 crores on the weekend and 4.75 crores on weekdays.
