After completing the opening week on a decent note, last Friday released highly anticipated Hindi movie PadMan has now entered in the second week and still holding well at the box office. Despite having the already existing biggie Padmaavat, the newly released Aiyaary and Black Panther in the opposite, this socially relevant drama is expected to remain steady throughout this week.
Starring superstar Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor, and Radhika Apte in lead roles, PadMan addresses the taboo topic very smartly. As expected the movie has received huge appreciation from critics as well as audience and gained strong word of mouth globally.
Being a non-masala offering and due to the presence of Padmaavat at the box office, R.Balki’s directorial opened to a lower note than expected but picked up very well over the opening weekend and registered the business of 40.05 crores, that included 10.26 crores of Friday, 13.68 crores of Saturday and 16.11 crores of Sunday.
Then on weekdays, the movie faced usual drops in footfalls but the partial holidays of Maha Shivaratri helped it to remain steady. With a drop of 43% than last Friday, PadMan did the business of 5.87 crores on Monday. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Akshay starrer showed jump and minted the amount of 6.12 crores and 7.05 crores respectively.
On the next day i.e. Thursday, with a considerable drop, PadMan garnered the business of 3.78 crores and raised its one-week business to 62.87 crores from 2750 screens across the country. Now the movie is in the second weekend and passed the 2nd Friday on a decent note by collecting the amount of 2.10 crores.
With this, the total collection of Twinkle Khanna’s debut production after 8 days, has become 64.97 crores at the domestic box office. Aiyaary is getting mixed reviews, so PadMan could take noticeable growth over the weekend.
