More than a year after, the powerhouse of talent Alia Bhatt is back to impress us once again with Raazi. As expected this highly anticipated film has received very positive reactions from the viewers and gained strong word of mouth. As a result, it has registered the 6th highest opening of the year so far after Avengers Infinity War, Baaghi 2, Padmaavat, Pad Man & Raid.
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi is a story of a young girl Sehmat Khan who was sent to Pakistan in 1971 as a spy. It is adapted from the novel Calling Sehmat written by Harinder Sikka, which is based on true events. Alongside Alia, it stars the fine actor Vicky Kaushal in a lead role.
For its solid content, powerful direction and brilliant performances by the actors especially Alia, this espionage thriller has received mostly positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience. After Talvar, director Meghna has once again got succeed to hit the target right and hard.
On the opening day, Raazi started the journey on a decent note with 15-20% of occupancy across the country for morning shows. Due to positive word of mouth, it witnessed a good jump in metro cities post noon shows and has done the business of 7.53 crores from approx. 1500 screens across India.
Despite already-running Avengers Infinity War, 102 Not Out & ongoing IPL matches, Dharma Productions and Junglee Pictures’ this presentation has performed beyond-expectations on Friday and registered a solid opening. As per current trend, it is positively expected to take a healthy jump over the weekend.
