Despite a solid star power of superstar Salman Khan and high recall value of the franchise, the recent Hindi offering Race 3 has taken 9 days to cross the mark of 150-crore at the domestic box office. This shows, now the audience does not run after superstars but they want a good content.
Directed by Remo D’souza, Race 3 has received mixed reactions from the critics as well as the audience. Despite having Salman Khan on board, this time the director got failed to hit the target right and facing huge criticism because of his weak direction and stupid story-line.
Being the highly awaited, the third installment of Race film series took a tremendous opening and also showed a healthy growth over the opening weekend due to Eid-effect. It did the business of 106.47 crores in first 3-days, that included 29.17 crores on Friday, 38.14 crores on Saturday, and 39.16 crores on Sunday.
Then on weekdays, unfortunately, it witnessed a downtrend and raked the business of 38.04 crores, with 14.24 crores on Monday, 9.50 crores on Tuesday, 8 crores on Wednesday, and 6.30 crores on Thursday. After a week, the total collection of the film was recorded at 144.51 crores from 4000 screens across India.
Now, Race 3 is running on its second weekend with an overall disappointing pace. On 2nd Friday, it faced a drop of 40.48% than the previous day and minted 3.75 crores. On 2nd Saturday, due to a weekend, it showed a good jump and collected 5.50 crores. With this, its 9 days total collection has become 153.76 crores at the domestic box office.
