Last Friday released, the period crime drama Raid has completed its one week journey on a solid note. After a strong weekend, it remained steady on weekdays as well and registered the second-best opening week of the year so far by dominating the record of superstar Akshay Kumar’s PadMan (62.87 crores).
Produced by Panorama Studios and T-Series Films, Raid is based on one of the most high-profile income tax raids of the county conducted by Indian Revenue Services in the 1980s. With its impactful story-line and brilliant performances by Ajay Devgn and Saurabh Shukla, the movie has impressed everyone and gained positive word of mouth.
On the first day, Raj Kumar Gupta’s directorial opened on a slow note in morning but picked up very well after the noon shows. By showing solid uptrend over the weekend, it raked the business of 41.01 crores, that included 10.04 crores of Friday, 13.86 crores of Saturday and 17.11 crores of Sunday.
Then on weekdays, as usual, Raid witnessed an abrupt drop in footfalls but still managed to remain good at the box office. With a maintained momentum, the movie minted the amount of 6.26 crores on Monday, 5.76 crores on Tuesday and 5.36 crores on Wednesday.
On the next day i.e. Thursday, it faced slight more drop and bagged the amount of 4.66 crores. With this, the total collection of Raid after a week has become 63.05 crores at the domestic box office. Now from the next week, it will have Rani Mukerji’s Hichki and Diljit Dosanjh’s Sajjan Singh Rangroot in the opposite.
