Half a month back released the much-awaited biopic of Sanjay Dutt ‘Sanju’ is performing tremendously from the very first day and now within just 16 days of release, it has joined the 300-crore club at the domestic box office. Also, it has become the highest grosser of the year so far by surpassing Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat.
Directed by the ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, the biographical drama Sanju has received very positive reviews from the critics as well as the audience for its brilliantly scripted story-line, proficient direction and outstanding performances by all the actors especially Ranbir Kapoor in a titular role.
Being the highly anticipated film of the year, Dutt biopic took an exceptional start and did the business of 202.51 crores in the opening week by remaining super-strong throughout. Then in the second week as well, it maintained a solid pace and reported the business of 92.67 crores.
Now Sanju is running in its third week with 2000+ screens across India and once again getting an impressive response on the weekend. On 3rd Friday, Vidhu Vinod Chopra & Raju Hirani’s joint production faced a drop of 24.45% than the previous day and minted the amount of 4.42 crores.
On the next day i.e. 3rd Saturday, despite having Soorma & Ant-Man And The Wasp in its opposite, the film witnessed a big jump in footfalls and bagged the amount of 7.75 crores. With this, Sanju has raised its 16 days total collection to 307.35 crores and emerged 6th highest grosser of all time in Hindi Cinema by dominating Sultan (300.45 crores) & Padmaavat (302.15 crores).
