John Abraham, Manoj Bajpayee & debutante Aisha Sharma starrer Satyameva Jayate has passed its 9-days extended opening week on a solid note. Despite mixed critics reviews and having Akshay Kumar’s Gold in the parallel, it has got succeed to divert major single screen audience toward itself since the very first day.
Directed by Milap Milan Zaveri, Satyameva Jayate doesn’t have much effective story-line but being a masala entertainer, it got a thumbs up from the audience and gained a very good word of mouth. As a result, it has dominated Karan Johar’s Dhadak (74.17 crores) within 9 days of release at the domestic box office.
Released on Independence Day, John starrer opened on an amazing note and become the biggest opener so far. On the second day, it witnessed a major drop but still managed to remain steady and did the business of 56.91 crores in the 5-days weekend, with 20.52 crores on Friday, 7.92 crores on Thursday, 9.18 crores on Friday, 9.03 crores on Saturday, and 10.26 crores on Sunday.
Then on weekdays, as usual, Satyameva Jayate faced further drop in footfalls. On Monday, it minted the amount of 3.76 crores after a dip of 52.53% than Thursday. On Tuesday, the film collected 3.79 crores, while on 2nd Wednesday due to Eid-Al-Adha holiday, it reported fair jump and raked 6.67 crores.
On the next day i.e. 2nd Thursday, T-Series’ presentation got dropped again and bagged the amount of 3.96 crores. With this, the total collection of SMJ after the 9-days extended opening week has become 75.09 crores nett at the domestic box office from 2500 screens.
