After a bumper opening, director Luv Ranjan’s comedy movie Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety showed solid growth at the box office on Saturday. With its interesting story, non-stop punches and the mind-blowing performances by the leading actors, it has got succeed to entertain the audience and most of the critics as well.
Due to in-favor reviews, Kartik Aaryan, Sunny Singh, Nushrat Bharucha, and Ishita Raj starrer Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety has gained positive word of mouth, which is helping it to perform well at the box office. As a result, the movie has taken a good lead over the adjacent offering within just 2 days.
On the first-day, SKTSK started its journey on a bumper note and registered a good opening. With an occupancy of 35-40% on 1650 screens across India, it did the business of 6.42 crores on Friday, which is near to the opening business of Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (6.80 crores).
On the next day i.e. Saturday, being weekend Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety took a noticeable growth of approx. 45.5% and minted the amount of 9.34 crores. With this, the total collection of the movie in 2 days has become 15.76 crores at the domestic box office.
On the other hand, Karan Johar, Sonakshi Sinha, and Diljit Dosanjh starrer comedy-drama Welcome To New York got failed to impress the audience as well as the critics. Despite higher star power, it opened to poor note on Friday and did the business of only 0.60 crore.
Due to negative remarks, Chakri Toleti’s directorial remained poor on day-2 as well. With a slight drop as compared to the opening day, Welcome To New York garnered the business of 0.55 crore on Saturday and raised its 2 days domestic total to 1.15 crores.
